Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) established by an Act. of Parliament in 1985 under the aegis of Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India has been promoting Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system in the Country. Today the University has emerged as a largest Mega Open and Distance University in the democratic World. The University offers wide range of high quality, innovative and need based skill development programmes to the aspiring learners from all the segments of the Society. The University has a mandate to reach out the diverse learner groups by providing skill based programmes at affordable costs with latest ICT facilities and thereby increasing the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in the Country.

The University has a largest number of Learner Support Centres throughout the country and they are coordinated by Regional Centres of IGNOU.
